Hi, I’m Đurđica
Đurđica is my middle name, and it stands for the Croatian part of me. I am half Croatian: my mum is Croatian and I still have a lot of family there. Because I can work remotely, I easily spend two months a year in Croatia. I understand a lot of Croatian, but I am missing a solid foundation, and that is what I want to change now.
Why this website?
I take Croatian lessons and also learn a lot with word lists. But I always missed a good website that has everything in one place: clear lessons, exercises for every lesson and a place to build your vocabulary. Being a software engineer, I thought: why not just build it myself? Everything I learn, I put together here. That way I learn it better myself, and you can learn along with me step by step, whether you speak English or Dutch.
Why isn’t the site finished yet?
Because I am still learning myself! The site grows with me: roughly every week a new lesson is added, with exercises, a word list and now and then a review. Spotted a mistake or have an idea? Feel free to let me know through the contact form.
Why a lily of the valley?
Đurđica is Croatian for lily of the valley. That is why the little flower is in the logo and at the top of the homepage.
