Odjeća: Clothes
A topic lesson is an easier lesson: no new grammar, but lots of new words. In this topic you learn odjeća (clothes). You immediately use the colours and adjectives from lesson 8 and the plural from lesson 7: crvena majica, plave hlače.

Plural only: hlače and naočale
This label means: only exists in the plural (množina), even when it is about one thing. hlače (trousers) and naočale (glasses) are such words, as you saw in lesson 9. That is why you say Hlače su plave and Gdje su naočale?
In the shop
When you ask about more than one thing, košta (costs) becomes koštaju (cost): Koliko koštaju cipele?
- Izvolite.Can I help you? / Here you are.
- Koliko košta jakna? How much is the jacket?
- Koliko koštaju cipele? How much are the shoes?
- To je skupo. That is expensive.
- To je jeftino. That is cheap.
- Mogu li probati? Can I try it on?
Did you know the necktie comes from Croatia? In the 17th century, Croatian soldiers wore a knotted cloth around their necks. The French called it à la croate, and that became cravat. In Croatian a tie is still called kravata, from Hrvat (Croat).
